The typical eight-month-old is indeed off to far off places in the world as she can rather reach and also play like a madman once she gets there.
Her vastly improved dexterity, ability to focus and language skills do make playtime more exciting than ever. One can expect plenty of baby conversation and possibly a distinct “mama” or “da-da” in the coming weeks. And while one’s comprehension is still limited, one tiny troublemaker will soon get the meaning of the word “no” as she does hear it (a lot) over the next decade or so. Baby signing may indeed help bridge the communication gap between the two of oneself, so if one is interested, and now is the time to have indeed a good start.
Another of course rather exciting discovery around the eight-month mark: the genitals, which do indeed seem to provide endless fascination whenever they are available for self-inspection. That is indeed normal, as is utter exhaustion for Mom as one does try to cope with action-packed days and (possibly still) sleepless nights.
One does need to make sure to take time to recharge one’s batteries; taking a break and also clearing one’s head is good for oneself and, therefore, good for one’s baby.

Favorite TOY
Some babies may choose a favorite soft toy and will make use of it as a security object, dribbling on it and dragging it around everywhere. If so, this is the time to visit shops for a second one just in case it does get lost or in case one wants to sneak it into the washing machine. Many babies are not fussy about a favorite toy.
