The health benefits of amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, can be partly attributed to its high vitamin-C content. Amla improves food absorption, balances stomach acid, strengthen the liver, nourishes the brain and mental functioning, supports the heart, makes stronger the lungs, regulates removal of free radicals, improves fertility, helps the urinary system, increases the skin health, promotes the healthier hair, acts as a body coolant, flushes out toxins or unhealthy substances, increases vitality, strengthens the eyes, advances muscle tone and, acts as an antioxidant.

It provides the remedies for many diseases, so it is extensively used in the Ayurvedic treatment.
