Cucumber & Oatmeal

Grate ½  a cucumber & blend it with a cup of oatmeal. Add 1 tsp of yogurt or curd to this, to make a paste. Apply on the face, taking special care to cover the blemishes & leave for 10 minutes. Clean softly with cool water. With regular use this mask may soften & smooth acne pits.

 Cucumber & Sugar

This is the simple one : grate cucumber and strain to collect ½ a cup of juice. Add 1 tbsp sugar & mix well. Apply this on face & neck area, leave for 15 minutes. Rinse smoothly with cool water & splash some cold water to close pores. The skin may clear up & glow.

Yeast & Yogurt

Take 1 tsp of brewer’s yeast & mix it well with 1 tbsp of yogurt. Apply this paste & leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse gently with cool water. This helps to clear blemishes. Repeat every other day for two months.

Carrots and milk

Mash some boiled carrots to make a cup. Apply thickly on the face and & it on till it dries or for 20 minutes. Wash with cold milk first & then use cold water. This is very good for acne marks & pits.

 Honey and rose water

Use a blend of 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of rose water. Apply on face & neck every night & go to bed. Rinse with normal water in the morning. If this feels sticky: Rinse it after 40 minutes.

Green papaya

Peel & grate some green papaya. Mash well or run it through the blender. Apply this as a thick paste for 20 minutes before washing face. This works well on acne & pit marks and brings a smooth and glowing complexion.

Take 2 tbsp of green gram (moong) powder & make a paste with water. Leave on the face for 20 to 25 minutes and wash with cool water. This clears pimples, acts on wrinkles & moisturizes skin as well. The powder can be stored in the jar.

Nutmeg

Rub a nutmeg against a stone with some cold milk to get a paste. You can finely dry grind 4 to 5 nutmegs & store the powder. Mix 1 tsp of nutmeg powder with 2 tsp of cold milk & apply this paste on the face. Leave it on for 20 minutes before washing smoothly with cool water. This removes acne marks & lightens skin tone.

Castor oil

Castor oil is very popular & known to remove blemishes & pigmentation. Apply by moving fingers in the circular direction. Use this twice a day. Avoid using if there are any pus filled pimples : as the oil will worsen them. Avoid using castor oil during the pregnancy.

Chick pea flour

Take 1 tbsp of gram flour . Mix 1 tbsp of yogurt or curd to form a paste. This has exfoliating properties as well as fading blemishes. This mask is efficient and safe to use as it does not cause any reactions. A few drops of lemon juice will be added.

Sandal Wood

Make a mask with 2 tbsp of sandal wood powder & 2 tbsp of rose water. After rinsing the face with warm water, apply this paste & leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water. This mask normally suits all skin types.

Egg 

Blend the juice of ½ a lemon with 1 egg white. Apply this mask on face and neck & rinse after it dries. It can be kept on face overnight. This may tighten skin and is particularly good for open pores.

Tender coconut

Take the water from a green coconut or tender coconut & apply on blemishes & for pigmentation. This can be applied on dark elbows & knees as well. It improve the skin tone. This water is said to remove pox marks.

Note : Face masks, which are made from the natural ingredients, will take a little longer to show results, though regular care may definitely show positive & long lasting results.
