The importance of the human brain is simply beyond debate. The brain is considered the control center of the body with the nervous system acting as the highway, delivering messages from the brain to different parts of the body. In fact, even when we are resting, our body performs the essential activities through our brain. Signals sent from the brain through the nervous system control all body functions such as thoughts, the way you move your body, and even how well you learn and remember things.
Unfortunately though, we tend to do things which are potentially damaging to our brain and the sad part is that we are not aware of it.
No breakfast. It is a proven fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the energy you need to survive the day’s stresses. Those people who don’t like to take breakfast are going to lower blood sugar level which could have an adverse effect on the supply of nutrients to the brain.
Over reacting. When confronted with situations that way out of our ordinary routine, our tendency is to overreact which is not healthy to do. Hardening of the brain arteries called overacting, and this act can decrease mental power.
Smoking. Everybody knows that smoking is highly dangerous to our health. People who do not smoke suffer the same effects through secondhand smoke. Smoking and sitting with smokers can effect your brain and may lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
High sugar intake. Too much sugar will break the assimilation of proteins and nutrients causing gauntness and may brain development discontinue.
Air pollution. Being exposed to population is not only damaging to our body. It also gradually destroy the brain functioning. Our brain is the biggest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the transfer of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain performance.
Sleep deprivation. Sleeping is natural periodic state of rest for the mind and body. Long term deprivation from sleep will forward to the death of brain. That is the reason why we should get enough sleep to recharge our brain and body to function normally.
Covering your head while sleeping. Sleeping with the head covered, increases the absorption of carbon dioxide and decrease absorption of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging facts.
Working your brain during illness. When we are ill, it decreases the ability of our brain to function normally. There is a possibility of decrease in the power of the brain. The key is to allow our body and brain to recuperate and resume working when we are already well.
Lack of communication. Talking is proven to be a good exercise for the brain. Communication allows the brain to maximize its potential and give you enough boost to carry on with your daily activities.
Lacking in excite thoughts. Our brain is made to think. Hence, it is advised to go on well-thinking activities. If you lack exciting thoughts, your brain may tend to decrease.
